A Confident Start to the 11+ Journey
​Our Year 3 11+ Foundation Course introduces pupils to core literacy skills in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment. Designed as an early-entry programme for children beginning their 9+, 10+ and 11+ journey, this course lays the groundwork for future success in our Year 4 and Year 5 courses and, ultimately, grammar and independent school entrance exams.

Course Content

This course is carefully structured to support early learners while gradually introducing 9+, 10+ and 11+ skills in a developmentally appropriate way:

Reading Comprehension
Pupils read a wide variety of texts and are gently introduced to question types that develop inference, vocabulary, and understanding of meaning, tone, and structure.

Creative & Descriptive Writing
Early writing sessions focus on imaginative expression, story structure, sentence variety, and vocabulary building. Pupils are encouraged to enjoy writing and find their own voice.

Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (SPAG)
Pupils are introduced to sentence-level grammar, punctuation rules, and spelling patterns through enjoyable and accessible tasks that encourage mastery and fluency.

Vocabulary Building
Targeted vocabulary instruction helps pupils expand their word choice, use context to infer meaning, and build greater confidence in communication.
